Austin, TX to Branson, MO

My extended family is holding a reunion in Ridgedale, MO (10 miles South of Branson), at Big Cedar Lodge in June, 2004. We are planning to drive from Austin with our kids, ages 6 and 10. Any suggestions on sights (other than the Dallas area) along the way to entertain us or our kids?
I made a reservation at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Durant, Oklahoma, in order to stop at a halfway point on the outbound leg. I would appreciate any recommendations for other stops or if we should change to another city for our overnight stop.
