I am a college student and some friends and I want to take a roadtrip to Kansas this summer and eat in those cheap funky diners and sleep under the stars. What is the best route to take from SC and are there any suggestions of some fun things to do on the way?

Hi,
I am a senior in college, from SC, and just came back from a three week road trip with a friend to the west coast. In route to Kansas from SC, i would highly recommend Nashville. we found ourselves in a bar at 2 pm, with live country music. wonderful! broadway St. in nashville is great, very cultural, local bars. some tourists, but not over-bearing. further west, the ozarks may be worth visiting, for a good sleep in the wild. little rock and oklahoma city should be avoided in my opinion (we did both). we spent three weeks sleeping in the back of the car, adn eating beans out of cans. that is about all the advice i can give you on that piece. hope you have a great time!
