I recently upgraded from Win 98 to Win 2K. I can no longer connnect to the internet via my cell phone which used to work perfectly. The modem still works fine with a land line. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Is there a fix for it?

What cell phone are you using? What ISP?

Microsoft contacts tried to backpeddle on me a bit, but I think the basic problem is that your modem can't support or vice a versa the Win 2000. Win 2000 is basically Windows NT and as such requires a different configuration. But I hear you saying -- that it works fine for a wireline connection -- I have put the bug on a couple of my technical friends and hope to have a more useful response soon.

For once, the connectivity problem does not appear to be on the wireless side. All of your efforts to reload the drivers and software was probably on the right track, but the solution was one layer down.
Novatel and others working in the PC card business are reporting difficulty working with the WIN-2000. In the words of the editor at "The Mobile Letter" (a research newsletter for wireless professionals): "According to a Novatel rep, Win2000 is very finicky about loading new software and is known to be tricky when it comes to configuring wireless PCMCIA cards. "
I urge you to contact Microsoft and urge them to provide you with a bug fix to solve this configuration problem. Please keep us posted on your progress.
