yosemite to North rim grand canyon
Hi everyone. we are a Scottish family of 5 (kids 14,12 and 9) planning a two day trip to get from wawona Yosemite to the North rim of the grand canyon. route planners all take us via fresno and Bakersfield but we think going via mammoth lakes may offer more choices and fun. We'd really appreciate any local advice! Many thanks.
Not so easy to advise when we only see part of the picture.
Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !
That's why you should never just follow a mapping software program, decide for yourself and go the way you want. In this case I would certainly choose the route over Tioga Pass [CA120] which is spectacular. With only seeing a part of the Jigsaw rather than the whole picture, it's hard to give suggestions. You could then travel through Death valley to Vegas and then onto the North rim or you might be going to Vegas afterwards ? Another option would be to take US6 after Tioga Pass through Tonopah and then from Warm Springs take the 'ET Highway' [NV375] and US93 to Moapa and I15 with a stopover and visit Zion NP, again if that's not somewhere else in your plans.
