Hi!
Driving from NYC to Cincinnati, OH next week and looking for the best route (least traffic, higher speed limits, less cops, less tolls).
Maps are showing two main routes. i76/i70 through PA then i71, or i80 through PA then i71.
I've been googling this like crazy but all answers are at least 2 years old.

I-80 is about 30 miles longer, but it would save you on tolls. Taking I-78/76 means using the PA Turnpike, which will cost you $13.50 with an EZ Pass and $19 without one.
Any of the other differences are pretty minor. Speed limits will be roughly the same, there's no way to say which route will have more cops on any given day, and your biggest traffic issues will likely be just getting out of NYC.
I would take I-80 to I-76 to I-71. The only toll once you get out of NYC is a buck at the Delaware Water Gap bridge.
Another option, which would take longer but is very scenic, is I-78 to I-81 to I-70 to I-68 to I-79 back to I-70 to I-71.
My husband and I have driven both of the routings that GLC suggested. Both are really pretty, or at least they were to this person who loves rolling green hills. One place along I-68, that we wished we'd not just driven through, was Cumberland, MD. It was so quaint and very pretty!
