Boston to Oregon/California and Back to Boston

I’m going to be in the US in August and September and I’m planning a road trip. I’m looking at going from Boston to the west coast and back to Boston. I would like to see Niagara Falls Yellowstone, Yosemite, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon. So two questions for the seasoned hands here
1. Is this doable in 16-17 days.
2. It looks like the easiest route takes in the Grand Canyon on the way back so where should I go from there that will take me back towards Boston and is interesting.
I’ll be hiring a car in Boston and staying in motels/hotels and I’ve already costed that side of it.

Is it doable ? Yes you could cover the miles but you really won't have much free time to enjoy the places you are visiting. You are probably looking at over 7000 miles before detours, or roughly 13 full days of driving with time enough only for short breaks along the way. Keep in mind that Yellowstone really needs 3 days just to get around and see the highlights and you have next to no time for anything else. If you want to see the West then I would recommend flying out there and doing a loop trip from one of the major citys.

Thanks for the prompt reply Dave. On further reading of this forum yeah looks like I was going to try biting off more than I could chew. Back to the drawing board; guess I’ll look into plan B.
