Newbie here - Driving from Texas to Colorado for Labor day weekend.
My wife are doing our second road trip, this time from Dallas to Littleton, CO this coming labor day weekend to visit some great friends. Leaving Friday morning and probably gonna heading back on Monday. I know it's approximately an 11 hour drive, just wanted to get drive tips, any areas of concern, good place to eat and sights to see close to the route we are taking. Google maps is suggesting US-287 and I-25. Thanks in advance for all you veterans of the road! Advance Happy Labor day weekend!!

I know it will take longer.

Hi Fred. There is no way of doing this trip in 11 hours, it's going to be more likely 13-14 hours and that's if the traffic isn't too bad. This is further than we would recommend travelling in a day to keep things safe and enjoyable and you won't have time for anything other than basic stops for food, fuel and bathroom and rest stops. If possible I would leave Thursday evening and get 3 or 4 hours down the road and do the same on the return leg but in all honesty, to avoid turning up at your good friends exhausted and arriving home the same way, flying might be worthy of consideration. If you drive then 287/I-25 is the way to go imo.
