My husband is going to Scottsdale, Az to golf for a week and I am going to meet him in Phoenix after his golf trip. We are planning on renting a car in Phoenix, drive to Sedona, then would like to drive to San Francisco then fly back to Canada from San Fran. We would like to take the most scenic route and not travel on the freeways if we can avoid them. Can anyone suggest the best route, we have about 10 days to do the trip, can be longer if need be.
Any suggestions?

When will this trip take place? You posted in in the fall/winter section, which could impact the roads available to you.
A very popular option would be to head up to the Grand Canyon, across through Vegas to Death Valley, and then across Tioga Pass into Yosemite. The key part there is Tioga Pass typically closes for the winter sometime between mid-October and late-November.
Some other options would include adding in a detour to some of the National Parks in Southern Utah, heading up to Lake Tahoe, visiting Sequoia N.P., or including part of the California Coast on your trip. You could also do more exploring of the deserts of Southern Arizona and California, like Joshua Tree NP.
That's a good starting point for you. As you can see, there is no "best" route, just lots of good options. Once you've got a better idea of what sounds best to you, we'll be happy to help you put things together.
Thanks, sorry I wasn't clear as to where we want to go, the plan is to go to Tucson then to San Diego then up the California coast to San Fran.
