48 State Road Trip in 22 Days: Day 1
Hey all! This is my first time posting to this website. Last year in May, I used all of my vacation time to go on a road trip through 48 states. Starting from Tampa, Florida, I made my way to California, then up the west coast, across the northern states to Maine, then back down to Tampa. I took tons of pictures and recorded over 14 hours of video, which I'm currently in the process of editing into a 22 part series on YouTube.
Starting at around 10:00 AM, the first part of my trip was a 278 mile drive from Tampa, Florida to the Museum of Florida History in Tampa, Florida.
After touring the museum, I made my way out of Florida and over to Mobile, Alabama--a 257 mile drive along the panhandle of Florida. While I've been on road trips outside of Florida with family, I've never done it on my own, so visiting the Alabama Welcome Center was a mini-rush for me (I know, I'm lame).
In Mobile, I visited the Mobile Botanical Gardens. However, I arrived a little after hours, so while the park was open, there were no tour guides or anything. Still, it was a peaceful stroll before heading back to my car and finalizing my trip.
Finally, I drove 138 miles from Mobile Alabama to the Super 8 Motel in New Orleans Louisiana so I can rest up for sightseeing the next day.
I tried uploading pictures, but it didn't work for me. Should I upload them elsewhere and link them?
Let me know if you have any questions. I can't wait to share the rest of the trip with you all!
That was a lot of driving for such a late start.
That first day must have been some day. If you did not get on the road till 10am, visited the museum, stopped to stroll through the botanical gardens in Mobile and covered well over 600 miles in the day. I was glad to read day two was a sightseeing day, and not another long haul driving day.
Looking forward to reading more of your trip.
