Driving from Toronto to Seattle next month. Advice please!
Hey everyone, I'm new on here... next month myself and a couple buddies are driving from Toronto to Seattle. This is the route we're taking:
Attachment 3568
Through I-94 and I-90 primarily.
It is a very open ended trip, meaning we have a lot of leeway in how long we can take to do the drive. We were thinking around a week to drive because we wanted to stop and do some touring along the way. Anyone driven some or all of this route before? What are some neat things to do/see along the way? Also, what cities would you recommend stopping in along the with a bar or two and fun stuff to do/see?
Any and all help is appreciated.
A Week Is Not as Much Time as You Might Like
Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
You're looking at close to five days of driving to cover your route, so you really don't have all that much time to "do some touring along the way." Still there are some great sites to be visited quickly as you go. I assume there's a reason you're going through eastern Iowa rather than just taking I-90 directly from Chicago to the west. Which ever place you're going to, also consider the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, the Amana Colonies, and the National Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame in Anamosa. For a quick quirky stop, there's the Corn Palace in Mitchell SD. Then in western South Dakota there are a whole slew of great places including Badlands national Park, Mount Rushmore National Monument, Jewel and Wind Caves, and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Not too far west from that cluster is Devils Tower. Then just after you enter Montana on i-90 you'll be passing the Little Bighorn Battlefield. There are several very scenic byways in the Coeur d'Alene area, and if you still have time as you approach Seattle, you can detour south on I-82 to US-12 west and visit Mount Ranier National Park
