Two British guys needing advice for a roadtrip!
Hi there, my friend and I are going to be in the US at the end of July for work and we have both taken 10 days of holiday afterwards.
We want to go on a roadtrip but are frankly rather ignorant about where we should head.
We'll be in setting out from Washington D.C and as I say we have 10 days ahead of us.
We'd either like to head up towards New York or South through the southern states.
As we're both quite young guys we'd like to stop off in towns/cities that have good nightlife.
Any help would be hugely appreciated!
Many thanks

East Coast Summer Nightlife
Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
By "quite young" I'm going to assume early 20's, and that "good nightlife" means pubs, bars, music venues, and the like. In which case I'd recommend that you head south from DC for a couple of reasons. First, the beaches are a major center of summer activity, especially places like Ocean City MD, Virginia Beach VA, the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Myrtle Beach SC. Secondly, there's also a load of scenic and historic sites down that way to keep you entertained during the day.
Be aware, however, that if you are under 21, much of the nightlife scene will be unavailable to you and besides you will most likely not be able to rent a car. Even if you are over 21 but less than 25, renting a car can be prohibitively expensive once you add in the fees for two 'underage' drivers.
