Hi there! My boyfriend and I want to plan a roadtrip this summer, at the end of July or beginning of August. It's going to be our first one, and we have about 5 days we can take cause of our jobs. We live in Phoenix, Arizona and were just wondering if anyone knew of any fun stops we could make or just any ideas or tips in general? Any help would be appreciated!

I live in Tucson myself and have made many, many enjoyable week long RoadTrips from here and back, Just a few of the areas you can visit and have some useful time to explore in five days include the Pacific Coast (Big Sur and Monterey are my favorites); the national parks of southern Utah including Zion, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Canyonlands and others; The Four Corners area including the White Mountains, Canyon de Chelley, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, and Durango; north-central New Mexico with Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, Ghost Ranch, Chimayo, Abique and other unique and artistic destination, southern Nevada and Las Vegas, Death Valley, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.
There's no shortage of destinations. You could even stay relatively local. If one of those basic ideas appeals to you, but you need more information, just speak up.

oh wow thanks! Now I just have a question about The Four Corners, neither of us have ever been there, so is there enough to check out on the way there or semi close to that area that we could see in like 5 days?
The best 'advice' I can give you for a visit to the Four Corners area is this field trip report, and we didn't even get to Monument Valley!

It is difficult to beat Utah for seeing a great deal in a short time and in a comparatively small geographic area. In addition to the National Parks already mentioned and Monument Valley, Goosenecks State Park, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and Dead Horse Point State Park are great stops that do not require a great deal of time. Goosenecks is just north of Mexican Hat, Coral Pink Sand Dunes is near Kanab and Dead Horse Point is near Moab and Canyonlands NP.
Just driving Utah Scenic Highways 12 and 24 is a treat in itself.
