North Dakota to Seattle this weekend, Best way to go?
I'm driving alone in a Subaru Impreza.
I was going to take I-90 all the way, but I am concerned about Snoqualime Pass.
If I turn at Ritzville to 395, then take I-84 to Portland and go North, it adds 200 miles and several hours.
But if it's an easy drive with no snow to worry about, it could be worth it.
Opinions? Is it worth going out of the way to skip Snoqualmie? Or is it really not that bad?
It's been snowing lots lately, and closing for avalanche cleaning.
Current Snoqualmie conditions
Hello Doz,
You can click up a Washington DOT live webcam at Snoqualmie Pass any time you like. Just go to www.wsdot.com/traffic/passes/Snoqualmie.
I won't try to be too much of a Washington weather forecaster, but the SEA forecast calls for highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s with rain or showers both Sat and Sun. That probably translates to some snow up in the pass, where it's 3,000' higher.
I'd have to expect one heck of a lot of snow to drive +250 miles to try to avoid it. If you can connect, you can get to the US 395 cut-off and have a look at real-time conditions + the forecast.
Safe travels,
Foy
