Thought about doing a week family vacation to this area in late June driving from Sandusky, OH. We have been to Virginia Beach and enjoyed it alot - thought the OC, MD may be similar. Has anyone been to OC before?

I spent my boyhood summers at Fenwick Island, the town just across the state line in Delaware from Ocean City. It's changed quite a bit since then, but it is still a beach resort at heart with lots to do besides building sand castles, gathering shells, and playing in the ocean. Ocean City has one of the larger boardwalks in the area and I believe there is still a small amusement park at the south end of it. Also within a short drive are Assateague Island National Seashore, Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, the NASA launch facility at Wallops Island, (all on the ocean side of the Delmarva Peninsula), and Chrisfield and Tangier Island on the Chesapeake Bay side. A little farther afield, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel which crosses over to Norfolk/Virginia Beach and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry which crosses from Lewes DE to Cape May NJ are worth the trips. And if you go down to the Norfolk area you're basically in the Historic Triangle of Virginia with Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown, all in the Colonial National Historical Park.
