On summer I will be driving to WA State from FL. I'm not familiar with the roads and I would like to receive any tip you guys have. I would like to drive the shortest0 path but I don't like heights. That means no mountains if I can avoid them. Any suggestions?

We don't know where you're starting from or where you're going. "Florida" and "Washington" are awfully big targets.
The Rocky Mountains are directly in your path, no matter what the answers to the above are. There's no way you're going to be able to avoid mountains or heights. So what, exactly, do you dread?

If it's mountainous roads where you feel like you're driving on the edge of the world...then stick to the interstates. They are built so that you barely know you're up high in elevation except for a few signs and when your vehicle slows down a little (going uphill) or speeds up quite a bit (downhill).

As already said, much will depend on where this trip starts and ends. But I would have to agree with Donna, that west of I-25, just stick to the interstates, and you won't know you are in the mountains.... well, except for the spectacular scenery. The roads are gently graded with generous shoulders or roadside barriers. Take it easy and enjoy the ride. You will be passing through some of the most magnificent country there is... no matter which route you take.
