2011 Leaf Peeping Reports

This should be our eighth year, (but I can't find the 2010 poll), so it must be our seventh year, that we've providing our own Leaf-Peeping reports to the roadtripping Web community...

We need current reports -- so now is the time for you to step forward, register and share local intelligence about your community!

Quebec's site is active -- nice use of the Web for the 2011 season...

Sorry to report, but I've not left the office-to-home-route for a month or so. I've not seen whether or not our local canyons are beginning to show color. But one of the best local hikes to see autumnal splendor is the La Madre Spring trail in the Red Rock Canyon NRA (about 30 minutes from the Strip).

One of my favorite places to see leaves is the residential community surrounding the state capitol in Carson City, NV. I would imagine they are looking great about now.

If I get out of the office this week, I'll update with the latest found here.

The seasonal change is happening later this year here in central Massachusetts, that's for sure. Between the tornadoes, hurricane, microbursts, rain, thunderstorms, flooding, and unseasonably warm nights, it's kind of surprising anything much is happening at all.

I hiked up Mt. Norwottuck last weekend, and most of the trees within the view - and what a view - were still full green.

Interesting.

We've actually seen the season come a bit early, and in fact, I'd say that we've move "past peak" already. The last week has been about perfect, with temps in the 70s and 80s, but we've had some rain now and the leaf drop has picked up pretty good in the past couple days.

Last week I saw an article out of Minnesota about the color along the missisippi river valley the best its been in a decade, and based on what I've seen around here, i find that pretty easy to believe.
