Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum. I will be leaving Lake Tahoe on a Sunday in October and need to be in Las Vegas by Thursday. We'd like to take the most scenic route and will be traveling with our 16 month old so need some "family friendly" spots. Any suggestions for can't miss routes/stops along the way?
This Chicago girl has not spent much time out west so any advice is much appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !
With 4 or 5 days to travel between the two you have some good options. Yosemite, Sequoia and Death valley are 3 NP options you could visit. Bodie ghost town is popular, but the unmade section of road could be a problem if you are renting a vehicle where there policy is to not allow cars to go off paved roads.
Have a look around the forums and other RTA pages like the Map centre where you can create routes and/or find attractions along the way. Once you know what appeals to you let us know and we can help to 'fine tune' your trip.
Thanks so much for your reply! We've decided to drive from Lake Tahoe to Mammoth Lakes and spend the night. It's about 6 hours from Mammoth Lakes to Vegas and we're looking for another spot to spend another night about half way between the two. Our daughter can't take the car much longer than three hours. Any ideas? Thank you!
If you are now planning on 2 nights/3 days then the next logical stop would be in Death valley, Panamint springs and Stovepipe wells have lodging and would fit around your travel time, including the onward journey to Vegas. I would recommend you book in advance as it is limited and October is a nice time to visit away from the summer heat. It can still be hot though, so make sure you have sun protection and carry water with you.
