Vegas in December

Hi guys.We are thinking of going to vegas in the middle of december before jumping on R66.In vegas does everything carry on as usual or do they have a sort of christmas break (shows).Do the hotels change in price and is it worth booking early to beat the christmas rush.Also is the weather good.Any feedback will be gratefully recieved

Christmas itself is a very busy time in Vegas, and anytime from Christmas through New Years you should expect to see expensive rates that come with a peak travel period.

However, if your timing is different just by a couple weeks that can change dramatically. If you are going during the first couple weeks of December, it is one of the slowest travel periods of the year (and that's true pretty much everywhere) as you fall into the valley between Thanksgiving and Christmas travel. In those cases, you can often find some very good deals.

The average high in Vegas in December is 58, the average low is 34 - but of course those are just averages, you could see temperatures much warmer, or you could see snow.

I got a room for a night at Bally's for $29 one week before Christmas 2009. I believe the same room was going for $289 on New Year's Eve.
