Planning a trip
My best friend and I want to take a road trip. We did this before and ended up from Houston to Boston. It was years ago and we are ready for a new one. Back then it was about finding the best bars now I think we want more of the best sites. We really won’t have a day limit or anything like that. I just want to see some of the most beautiful, breathtaking sites there are. I have already been told Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. I was thinking old faithful and Mount Rushmore or the Smokey mts. Anyway any suggestions are great. We are a crazy pair also and any crazy things to see would be fun too. Like the picnic basket building or something like that. But, they have to be near a "wonder" place. We will be taking my daughter this time that is 11 years old. Again if you didn't catch it before we are from Houston, TX!

Welcome to the RTA Forum!
We really don't believe in generic "bests" or "must sees," because that is completely dependent upon you and your tastes. With no time limit and with a trip that appears to potentially cover all of the US, it is also simply impossible to narrow down the millions of things that could count as wonders.
You really need to do more research yourself to figure out what those places for you will be. Certainly, the National Park system is a great place to start, as every one of them could fit your goals, but that's really just the starting point. You can find lots more information here too by spending some time looking around.
Once you've got an idea of what you want to do, then we can help you put it all together and fill in the gaps.
