Hoover dam project warning[s].
Expected delays of up to an hour along US 93 Northbound from Kingman to Hoover dam are expected as they look to complete the lane widening to the new bridge crossing.
Alert !!!
A date to watch out for is October 16 where there are long, long delays expected all around the Hoover dam area as they have a special bridging America celebration that is going to attract huge crowds. Unless you are going to the event, I would suggest an alternative route.
There has been over 14000 reservations made for the event, which is basically a first chance for people to walk on the bridge, it is not open to traffic until November.
Keep up to date with ADOT.
RTA Will be at the Opening Party
Megan will be covering the event for RTA on the 16th -- I wish I could be there too -- but I've got another meeting.

It Opened Last Night at Midnight
Megan was one of the very first people to walk across it on the 16th for the Grand Opening Party and both Megan and I drove over it (each direction) about noon today.
The odd thing is that there is no sensation of height when you are on the bridge -- as seen from a car. The pedestrian walkway has awesome views of the dam and the gorge, but there are no views of the gorge in any way from the traffic lanes on the bridge.
Here are some photos we shot today!
