Dallas to L.A.
Hello!
I am planning on driving from Dallas to Los Angeles around the 15th December.
We will be 4 people and On the 21st we will come back(but by plane).
So during these days I have to get to L.A. and visit it.
I guess I don't have much time to make many stops along the way but there are a couple of things I would like to see and they are The Grand canyon and route 66.
Especially because I'm not american and I will leave the US after christmas :-(
Can you give me some suggestions on what stops I should make, what is worth visiting?
and also can it be dangerous to drive in December?
Thank youuu
Steph

It Just Fits
Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
Let's see. You've got 6 days total for the drive and to visit Los Angeles. Throw in that you also want to see the Grand Canyon and drive some of the former US-66, and you are going to have to devote 4 of those 5 days to the RoadTrip portion. But for that, you can probably also throw in quick stops at the Cadillac Ranch outside Amarillo and at Petrified Forest National Park. At Flagstaff head north on US-89 and then take AZ-64 along the south rim of the Grand Canyon and back to I-40 at Williams. Then at Seligman, AZ you can 'detour' onto the longest remaining stretch of what used to be US-66 by taking AZ-66 through Peach Springs and on to Kingman. I don't think you should have too much of a problem with weather, but be aware that the Flagstaff/Grand Canyon area is at an elevation of around 7,000 and so it will certainly be cold in December with snow a distinct possibility. I will warn you that the only time I've been to the Canyon in Winter it was completely socked in by fog and we (including my guest from China) could see nothing.
