I-91 Massachusetts Construction and Pinch Points

There is a significant construction project underway through the Springfield, MA area that is estimated to be complete in May of 2011.

If you are approaching Northbound from Connecticut and see traffic starting to slow, I strongly advise exiting and taking US-5 instead. Exit 49 is the last exit in Connecticut and soon after there is a drop from three lanes to two and the Longmeadow curve which is quite often difficult to maneuver. Added to the lane construction, bridge repairs are also underway.
