Seattle to San Diego in 10 days ... need help planning stops!
Hi Travelers!
My husband and I want to fly to Seattle in May 2011 and rent a convertible and leisurely drive down the coast to San Diego in 10 days. I need help planning the stops and sights.
We would like to stop at some winery's, points of interests, parks, monuments, sleepy coastal towns, maybe a B&B or two. Just really take it all in without being rushed.
We'd like to end up spending 2 days in San Francisco and 2 days in San Diego and try not to drive more than 4-5 hours on any given day.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Great idea, a couple of ideas...
Hotel parking in San Francisco tends to be around $40/night. I usually avoid staying there, unless I'm flying in. Also, most SF hotels don't have swimming pools.
Carmel-by-the-Sea is a great town to spend a night or two. Quaint, relaxing ... and free hotel parking!
Check out Point Lobos. Incredible 1/2 day-trip. www.pointlobos.org
Cannery Row in Monterey is nothing special (unless to visit the Aquarium). Just a bunch of high-end shops. I recommend the Steinbeck Center in Salinas, instead. It's less romantic, but more enriching. http://www.steinbeck.org/
Have fun!
