Planning a road trip from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Seattle, Washington

We will be traveling in a pop-up camper and hoping to see a bit of this country.
Would appreciate suggestions on best route to take, camping site or other pointers if you have made this trip before.

One common theme you will notice around here is that we don't subscribe to "best route" or "must see" as the beauty of the road trip is the freedom to see and do the things that appeal to us as individuals.

Trying to give you some ideas from thousands upon thousands isn't made a lot easier by the fact, we know nothing of your interests, how long you might have to do the trip in, and if it is a one way trip or return journey.

Badlands NP, Custer State park, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone and the Tetons all come to mind in the central part of your journey, but for now I think you need to spend some time looking at a good map of the US and search the RTA site [where you will find endless road trip routes and all matter of road trip info. If it isn't a solo trip [?] include all your party in the planning stages, it can be a lot of fun. Once you get started and fill in some of the blanks, I am sure we will be able to help to "fine tune" your trip.
