This Friday my boyfriend and I are driving from Nashville,TN to Providence, RI. We want to do it in two days, neither of us have done a road trip before. I didn't know if anyone knew of places we should stop along the way? Or a city near the halfway mark where we should stay Friday night. Any ideas are welcome and greatly appreciated!!!

If you want to make this trip in just two days, then you'll have time only for brief road side stops but not much else, This trip is going to be over a thousand miles and you are going to lose an hour to the time zone change. The one major suggestion I would have is to NOT try to drive through New York City, even on a holiday weekend, but rather take I-81 north to the Scranton area, I-84 past Hartford and then use I-84/US-44/CT-101/RI-101 to Providence. Halfway would be somewhere around Staunton or Harrisonburg, VA which are in a fairly scenic region of the Blue Ridge and would make an excellent break in your drive.

US-44 and the 101's are very slow going. I'd take I-84 all the way to the Mass Pike (I-90) then take MA/RI-146 back down to Providence. Another option is take I-691 to CT-66 to CT-9 to I-95.
