Hello
I am considering taking a road trip from San Diego to Wisconsin by myself with a 2 1/2 year old and a 16 month old. Am I crazy? Has anyone else done this? I was planning on taking a week or 10 days to do it in, just driving 3 or 4 hours a day.
What kind of things should I look for in hotels or places to stop? This will be my first time traveling alone with the kids but I wanted to do something fun with them while my husband is deployed.

If you are Navy, check with your local MWR office. Many bases around the country have motel-like facilities that you may be eligible to use. This would possibly save you some money over commercial hotel rates, and would eliminate any concerns you may have with the safety of a particular hotel. If you are another branch, they all have an equivalent to MWR. Take advantage of your military family benefits.
For example, I know that Scott AFB has facilities - it's just outside St. Louis.
