First family roadtrip---where to go?

This is the first year we are taking a family vacation and we have no idea where to go. We will be driving and would prefer to stay under 14-15 hrs driving time to the destination. Our dates are 4-6 thru 4-11

Any suggestions of where to go or what to do when we get there? We will be leaving from Cincinnati and have 2 boys, 4 & 5 yrs old.

With the details you've laid out, you could pretty comfortably go about 1,000 miles from home - which is 2 good days of driving. That would be along the limits of the amount of driving you want to do, and would work with the time you have available.

Now, narrowing it down from there is going to fall into your hands. That range is enough where you can visit anywhere on the east coast, and go as far as Dallas, Denver, or the Black Hills as the extremes to the west.

There is no one sized fits all roadtrip, and there is no way for anyone on this or any other forum to know better than you what your family would be interested in. When you're talking about possibilities that cover the eastern 2/3rds of the US there are millions of possibilities of all sorts of different areas and without knowing what you want, no one else can start narrowing those things down.

Sit down with your family and start brainstorming about the things you've always wanted to do or always wanted to see. Get out a map and just take a visual look at all the many possibilities that fall in between the points I listed.

Once you've got an idea of what it is you'd like to do, then we can help you put all the pieces together.
