Edmonton to Anaheim... Timeline and routes?!

Hi everyone!

We're planning on driving from our hometown (Edmonton) to Anaheim and back this August.
Likely leaving on August 9th, needing to be home on/before August 25th. So, about 15 days.

We've already figured that we'll go down via the I-15, and home via the I-5....

Our "must visit" places include:

-Grand Canyon (is this too far off-course if we go down via the I-15?!?!)
-Anaheim (Disney), need 2 days there
-San Francisco, need at least one day there
-A good beach for surfing

I would love feedback on:
-if our time is too short for all we want to do
-suggestions on places to visit/see
-hotel suggestions that are PET FRIENDLY!

We are definitely 'marathon' travellers, and don't mind driving 15+ hours a day if need-be, in order to stay on track time-wise!!!

Your trip is doable but you have a lot of miles to cover and if you stick to our recommended limit of 550-600 miles per day maximum on multi day trips [which equates to 9 or 10 hours a day on the road] then you have 7.5 to 8 days travel to achieve your goals That would give you a couple of days around the Grand canyon, LA and maybe a night near a beach on the PCH to SF and a couple there before heading towards home.

You have the option of the North or South rim of the Grand canyon and could possibly take a side trip to Zion NP just off I 15.

You'll need about 8 full days for the driving you have ahead of you. Those are full 10 hour days, and while you may not 'mind' 15 hour days, those who have to share the road with you and rely on your good judgement and reflexes will. Add in the days you say you want to spend in California and some time at the Grand Canyon and you only have 2-3 days to spare to see everything else on your route. It can certainly be done, if that's what you want. I'd recommend that you do the North Rim of the Canyon taking UT-20/US-89/AltUS-89/AZ-67 via Hatch, Kanab and Jacob Lake, and then return to I-15 by backtracking in AZ-76/AltUS-89 to Fredonia and then AZ-389/UT-59/UT-9 to rejoin I-15 north of Las Vegas. Given the minimal amount of 'spare' time you have for this drive, I'd suggest that you limit other stops to a minimum. Crater Lake is near your line of march (if you use US-97 rather than I-5 through Oregon) and worth seeing. Yellowstone is a bit out of the way for you and you would be rushed at best if you tried to see even a portion of what it has to offer.
