Thanksgiving Roadtrip..Suggestions plz

New to this forum. :) This looks like a great place for this kind of activity.

We (a group of 3) are thinking of planning a road trip for this Thanksgiving weekend which is for us, 4 days. We have been on a road trip just once before this, which is from Washington DC - Miami, FL - Niagara Falls, NY - Washington DC. Certainly a long trip which took us 5 days and some 4000 miles to drive.

Now we do not have the time do some research and plan in advance as we just have only a week. We live in Fairfax, VA which is about an hour from DC.

Can anyone suggest some places? I know there is no one answer for this kind of a question. But just suggest some. The only criteria would be

- Not hitting a very cold weather at this time of the year
- A trip that would be done in 3-4 days.
- A few things that we are interested in are Photography, hiking, National
parks (anything that does not have a city feel to it)

Well, wanting to avoid cold does limit your possible destinations quite a bit. I think you best bet would probably be to head towards the Carolina Coast.

The Cape Lookout National Seashore and Croatian National Forest would be an easy trip, that would give you a lot of time to relax and explore. If you wanted to go a little farther you could look at areas around Charleston SC or possibly Savannah GA, which both have some national forest/monument areas to explore.

I wouldn't look much farther than that, or you're going to end up like your previous trip where you end up locked up in a car all day and never have much of a chance to do anything fun.
