Roadtrip during Thanksgiving weekend from L.A.

Hey everyone,

We are a family of 4:
Dad-50
Mom-44
Son-21
Daughter-17

We live in Corona,CA and want to take a roadtrip going north, but we don't know where to go and how to go about it. We definitely want to drive along the beach after we leave L.A., but we don't know which routes to take.

Ideally, we'd be leaving early morning on Thursday (11/26) and getting back by the afternoon on Sunday (11/29)

I've always wanted to take the scenic drive along the pacific coast that everyone talks about, but I don't know what routes to take or what the weather conditions will be like (we'll be driving in a 2003 Camry.)

All and any advice is appreciated.

If it's the coast you want to see then travelling on CA 1 and 101 is the way to go. There is much to see along the PCH and you will find lots of info using the search button. Driving around Big Sur and a Hearst castle tour are very popular. You could take a straight shot up to San Francisco on I 5, have a day there and spend a couple of day's coming back home on the coastal route, depending on how far North you want to go.
By heading South down the PCH all the sea views will be on your side of the road and is recommended.
As for the weather, keep up to date with forecasts using a site like The weather channel.
