Chicago 2 San Francisco

Hi all

We are not familiar with the weather conditions in USA. We are Planing to go from Chicago to San Francsico via:
Minneapolis
Rapid City
Yello Stone NP
Salt Lake City
Las Vegas
LA

My fear is a little bit the weather. I do not want to get stuck in the Rockies. Do you think this trip is possible whithout a 4x4 vehicle. We are planing to leave Chicago on the 7th of September and to be in SF on the 18th of September.

Traveling in September is generally well before the winter season, and every place that you are planning to go is going to be seeing quite a bit of other traffic. I would not recommend spending the extra money for 4 wheel drive for this trip.
