Paris, TX to Memphis, TN and back, HELP!!!

Hey Gang,

For our annual "Just the 2 of us" vacation, my husband and I are looking at a Wed - Sun trip. We will leave Paris Wed morning and drive to Hot Springs, AR for some "spa time". Leave Hot Springs early afternoon on Thursday going to Memphis. I want to see Graceland, the recording studio, and Beale street.

Then... I get stuck. I was thinking we could head down into Mississippi, but don't know what to do or where to stop. I would like to keep the driving down to less than 4 hours per day. We could spend Sat night in Shreveport at the boats and have an easy drive back on Sunday.

Should we spend 2 nights in Memphis?? and then spend Sat night in Vicksburg instead of Shreveport.

Any thoughts?? Any must see / must do activities that I am missing?? FYI...Hubby is NOT into any cultural activities (art museums, educational, etc.) Opposites Attract, Right?????

The following are just suggestions to get you thinking 'outside the box' a little, but if you're going to Memphis to see Graceland and Sun Studios, why not continue eastward just a bit on US-78 to Tupelo and see the other shrine to Elvis' life. Then take a relaxing drive down one of the most beautiful roads in the U.S. to Natchez (for some antebellum plantations) or Vicksburg (for the Civil War Battlefield). Either route would let you return home by way of Shreveport, and you could drive it all if you put in 4 hours a day (but no more than 4 hours a day) each day of your trip.

You mentioned Beale St in your post so you must like 'the blues'. Just down the road from Memphis is Clarksdale Ms, the crossroads, where Robert Johnson was said to have sold his soul to the devil for his ability to play the blues. There are several blues clubs around there, one of which is owned by Morgan Freeman, the actor.
