Moving and Driving Cross Country Boston-Seattle

I'm going to be driving from Boston to Seattle in March 09. I'll be stopping in Cincinnati, OH. From there I was thinking of taking Rt.80, making my way to Oregon, where I can then take 101 to Washington. I've read a lot of posts that Rt. 80 is pretty boring. I don't have a ton of time to stop but I would like to find some neat inns or hotels, haunted restaurants, and any interesting sites to see along the way. Rt. 90 is my other option but that would eliminate my ending coastal drive. Does anyone have any ides for places to stop or which Rt. to take?? Any ideas would be helpful!! Thanks :o)

The idea that a route can be boring runs pretty much against the principals of that this site is based on, so I can't imagine that you found those posts that I-80 was boring on this forum. Here is just a sample of some of the neat things you'll find on that road.

How much time do you actually have for this trip? Since this is a moving trip, you might consider spending more time exploring things along the way, farther away from your new home. You'll be able to easily spend time taking the coast route on a weekend a little while down the road.

I will also note that Cinci is quite a ways off of the direct route for this trip, but more importantly, I hope you're not planning to drive there from Boston without stopping. At 900 miles, you'd be looking at 16 hours of travel time, which is just too much for one day, especially if you still have a couple thousand miles of road in front of you.

Um, I think you mean Interstate 80 and Interstate 90? Here are some suggestions for both routes - I-80 and others and welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum.

agreed

i-80 and i-70 are beautiful. and i-70 is just breathtaking driving through Colorado.

i-80 through iowa during the beginning of summer... i've never seen more green in my life. sure it's nice to see something else after a couple days, but it's far from boring.
