Boston - Niagara Falls - Washington
Hi There,
3 friends and I are considering a road trip this coming fall.
We are planning on driving from Boston to Niagara Falls and then south to Washington.
We are giving ourselves around 10 days and would like to hear any advice, ideal routes, what not to miss and in general any recommendations.
Thanks a lot in advance

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
Although not nearly as obsessed as I used to be, I am also an amateur photographer. Some of my best photos have been taken while on the road, but not a one of them from/on the Interstates. The Northeast is an area where people are generally in a hurry and the main highways between Boston, Niagara and Washington will be fairly packed and moving right along. Not the recipe for suddenly seeing a great view and immediately pulling over to take a photograph. These are drives where you should allow yourself twice the time, or more, that mapping routines say you can make the trip in and take the smaller back roads, MA-2 through Massachusetts is one such road, running parallel to I-90, US-20 in New York is another, and US-15 south through Pennsylvania is yet another. But also look for other, even less traveled roads. Study your maps. Look for the little roads marked 'scenic' and take them. Just wander and keep your eyes open.
