Midwest Roadtrip

My husband and I are looking to spend a few days on the road over v-day weekend. I live in Omaha, NE and he is stationed at the marine base in Ft. Leonard, MO. We'd like to find some random places inbetween in which we can both relax and have a great time. We're interested in camping, art, good music and we're in our twenties. It's not very often than we can spend a lot of time together so we'd like to pack in as much goodness as possible. Any ideas?

In general, I'd say central Missouri would be one area that fits your requirements. There would be camping and hiking at Finger Lakes State Park and more hiking at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, and the University of Missouri is nearby with its cultural amenities. Another area that would be a little out of your way, but worth looking into would be the southwestern Missouri Ozarks.
