Alabama to California
Hi all. I am traveling from Alabama to Southern California in the fall, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on:
A. What route to take? I would like something at least somewhat scenic, but I don't want to add too many extra hours onto the trip.
and
B. How many hours per day should I drive? For reference, I am young and have a good bit of energy. I would like to get there in 4 days at the most.
Thank you!

Depending upon where in Alabama you are starting from, either I-40, I-10, or I-20 to I-10 will be your most direct options.
All of them will be roughly 2000 miles, so doing this over 4 days will be right along the lines of what we recommend (500-600 miles per day, especially if you are traveling solo). That will put you on the road for 8-10 hours a day, but gives you at least a little time to stop and see a few things along the way.
