Absolutely
Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
Ten days is way more than the you would need to just get to Los Angeles, so you'll have about a week's worth of time to just wander around and see the sights of the old Mother Road. Certainly Monument Valley is one of those sights, but there are others including Cadillac Ranch, Petroglyph National Monument, the Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, and maybe a side trip up over Hoover Dam to Las Vegas.

The "big ditch"
Hi there,
If you are going to head for Monument valley then you may as well take in a visit to the Grand canyon along the way. Once you leave the 160 from M/V and head south on the 89 you can enter by the East entrance, Desert view drive [64] and leave by the South to Williams. Just before the East entrance on the 89 is Cameron Trading Post, which is quite an interesting place to make a stop.
As Buck said, you have a lot of time to pick and choose places of interest and still have a relaxed pace.
