Welcome to the RTA Forum!
The most straightforward route is simply to take I-5, and you can make the trip in as little as 2 days. However, I assume with 10 days, you'd like to make this more than a speed run? What sorts of things are you interested in seeing and/or doing?
How many days are you planning for enjoying Seattle and LA? Or are the entire 10 days just for the trip in-between these cities?
If you have time, I suggest doing the drive down the coast. Awesome trip with lots to see. You'll need, at minimum, five days to make this trip. Although a couple more days would give you more time to stop along the way and explore things.
AZBuck's post gives you numerous links to read through that will give you an idea of the types of things you can see along the coast and also some things to see if you take the inland drive via I-5. Why don't you check them out and then come on back here with more questions? Happy planning!
If driving down from Seattle I recommend staying in San Francisco for a couple of nights. I thought it was a fab city, be sure to visit Alcatraz and an insider tip I got was to pre book your tickets for the visit as it saves you queuing when you get there.
From San Fran to LA you can take the interstate which is alot quicker and more direct, but the drive through Big Sur along the coast is alot more interesting.
We stayed in Carmel, which is a quiet town with nice restaurants and Santa Barbara which is a great town to visit.
In LA I recommend Santa Monica, which has a great beach and some nice bars and restaurants.
Hope you enjoy your trip!
