Washington to Florida end of Jan.

My buddy is being posted out of the country and cannot take his things where he's going so.... His things are going to be stored in FL. with me, Currently he's posted outside Seattle and we plan to take a trip from Seattle to northern FLorida at the end of Jan. to bring his things here. Anyone have any ideas on great routes/places to see along the way. This will be our first time across the US.. We're looking to take a Semi-direct route here to FL. and we have approx 10 days to do it in. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The "semi-direct route" would be Salt Lake City, Lincoln, Kansas City, St. Louis, Nashville, Tallahassee. Some places to see and pay attention to along that route include the Snake River Valley of southern Idaho, particularly the Thousand Springs area, Great Salt Lake in Utah, and Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area in southwestern Wyoming. In Nebraska, you'll be following the route of the old Oregon Trail with its history and scenery. Be sure to try some of the barbecue joints in Kansas City, and there's tons of stuff to do in St. Louis. Nashville is, of course, home to country music in general and the Grand Ole Opry in particular.

So you won't be at a loss for things to do along this trip, but you should also hold a day in your plans for sitting out bad weather as well. If you average just 350-400 miles a day, which should be relatively easy even if your towing a trailer, this should be a very relaxing and enjoyable trip.
