Heading to NJ to go to beach/visit family this week. Was trying to find sites/ideas of stuff to see/do along the way. Any places fun to stop? I have two kids under 5yrs old. Would like to be on the road no more than two days going and two days back and not go far off I-70. Thanks!

Kids that age mostly just like to run around. Maybe they'll slow down to look at a dinosaur or go through a small children's museum, but I think that you should be aiming mostly for outdoor venues where they can just blow off some steam and tire themselves out. So a few options within 10 miles of I-70 would include the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site outside Charleston, IL; Cagles Mill Lake AKA Lieber State Recreation Area near Cloverdale, IN; and Sycamore State Park outside Dayton and Madison Lake State Park outside Columbus in Ohio. In southern Pennsylvania, consider a moderate detour to take I-70 into Maryland to see Fort Frederick and then return to I-76 via US-15 and Gettysburg.
