Colorado/Utah questions

We are flying to Denver in three weeks to start our summer road trip. Our planned stops are Denver (2 nights) Moab (3 nights) Zion (2 nights) Durango (2 nights) Pueblo (1 night) and back to Denver. I mapped this out on AAA and it says this is about 1500 miles of driving. Does this sound reasonable with three kids (9 year old triplets)? We weren't originally planning on going to Zion but who knows when we will get back to that part of the country. If we leave Moab in the morning we would have 1 1/2 days to spend in Zion. Is it worth driving all that way for such a short time? Is there any way to get from Zion to Durango without going south into Arizona? Thanks in advance for you advice.

Nobody knows your children better than you - do you think that they would enjoy this type of trip, or that some problems may arise?

You can head North either on US-89 to UT-12 and then to UT-24, UT-95, US-191, US-491, CO-184, then US-160 into Durango. This adds about 100 miles or so beyond what the trip would otherwise take heading into Arizona. Is there any particular reason that you want to avoid Arizona on this trip?

Saying "No" to Zion is Tough

Zion is great, but I would probably opt-out of going there on your Denver-based roadtrip. Your kids should enjoy the town of Moab along with Canyonlands and Arches. From Moab, you can go south on US Hwy-191 to US Hwy-491. This drive allows for visits to Wilson Arch, Church Rock and Newspaper Rock. US Hwy-491 (formerly US Hwy-666) takes you through Cortez allowing for a visit to Mesa Verde National Park. In addition to being scenic, this park has lots of easy to get to ruins. When in Pueblo, be sure to do the Riverwalk and the Arkansas River Levee mural.

I have never been there, but your family might enjoy Tiny Town, which is located southwest of Denver on US Hwy-285.
