Hey everyone,
My husband and I have just decided to take a road trip to Lake Tahoe this July. We will be driving dow from Portland Oregon. It's coming up pretty soon. We want to make a fun trip there but I haven't the slightest idea of where to start. I'm going to be doing more research but I wondered if any of you know of any must see attraction near or on the way to Lake Tahoe. We are definately up for small detours. look forward to hearing from all of you! Thank you, Katie
Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! Lots of amazing places between Portland and Lake Tahoe, but one for a day trip from Lake Tahoe would have to be Virginia City. Watching Summer thunderstorms from the Bucket 0' Blood Saloon is really fun.Quote:

Depending on how much of Oregon you want to explore (or leave for weekend trips at another time): Wildlife Safari in Winston, the Oregon Vortex, Ashland (beautiful architecture, great theater), and Crater Lake.
In California, Lava Beds National Monument, Lake Shasta and the beautiful forests surrounding it, Donner Pass Memorial, Virginia City NV.
This is just for starters.
