Off-roading in Maryland?

Hey! First post and I think this is in the right thread...


I'm headed out with two friends from Kansas City, MO to a group camp in Swallow Falls State Park, MD. I've Googled the heck out of Swallow Falls State Park but I'm not finding much on the park itself other than a few pictures and some brief descriptions.

First, has anyone ever been to this park or one near it?

And almost more importantly, I'm really interested in finding some class 1-4 (non-modified 4X4 vehicle) trails in the area. I've got a 4X4 Dodge Durango, off-road shocks, and All-terrain tires and I'm wanting to have some safe fun.

Does anyone know of any resources in the area for 4X4ing or trails? Any advice on the region itself, i.e., things I've gotta see, drives I've gotta take?

I am not familiar with that park, but I have some resources for finding fun off-highway trails and I will post what I find when I return to the office later today. In the meantime, here is some limited info about off-highway travel options.

Here are the relevant resources for ATV and off-roading in Maryland and Pennsylvania. West Virginia does not list off-roading as one of the recreational activities available on its public lands.

I'll start by offering some web sites and ideas for the northeast area of this great country for off road adventures:

Northeast Association (of 4WD Clubs) lists some trails
JonFund, in CT, email Dan Stra
The Florida Road (CT) email Dan Stra
East Coast 4WD Association has a trail listing, as does
United Four Wheel Drive Assoc.
And for Maryland specifically, email Preston Stevens:

Google the Mid Atlantic Four Wheel Drive Assocation and the Baltimore 4Wheelers.
