Calgary, AB to Columbus, OH.

Hey gang.

I'm new here and this is my first post :) My wife and I are taking a road trip this October most likely from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Columbus, OH. The plan is to travel from Canada down to Montana, then east through South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, etc to Ohio. Then on the return trip, to pass through Chicago, Wisconsin, back through Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana and back to Canada again. I'm wondering if you guys and gals can give us some "must see" places to visit, unique roadside oddities, some local restaurants with some great food that arent national chains, etc to check out. We mainly plan on sticking to the Interstates, but I love to venture off onto the US and secondary highways to find some out of the way stuff (and I know I will...I always do!), so I'd love to get as many ideas as you can throw at me! :)

Thanks for the list of things to check out! Some of them I'd heard about, but some are definately new to me. I checked out the Amana Colonies website and they look very cool! I got them to send me a visitors guide...looking forward to checking them out...thanks for bringing them to my attention! :)
