Do-it-yourself mapping programs

Many members of this Forum like and use Microsoft's Streets & Trips software. I have been experimenting with an application that was orginally created for mapping runs (on human feet) but works reallly well as well for bike and vehicle road trips. I used it to today to map an roadtrip that I am profiling in an upcoming article in Las Vegas Life Magazine.

The application is free and can be found on the MapMyRun web site. What I really like about it is that is relies on the Google Earth mapping system and it is easy to create 3-D topographic maps of the route. Here is the link to the map I am working on. I would like to know what you think of this system. It is easy to create maps and is pretty darn cool. The mileage count is automatically generated and thus far, I find it easy to manipulate.
