Hi! Two of my friends and I were planning on taking a trip to Lake Havasu, problem is the only time we can go is July or August. I've read that July and August is monsoon season and it's recommended not to go then. Does anyone have any information regarding Havasu Falls in these months? Thanks in advance.
I think you are referring to Havasupai Falls (which are also known as Havasu Falls) -- these are located on the Havasupai Nation lands in the Grand Canyon. Here is a pretty good description of them. But they are a long ways from Lake Havasu.Quote:

Yes, I do mean Havasupai Falls. I seen that I had put Havasu Lake after I posted it and you replied before I could fix it! lol. I have read that site and was just looking for a little more information about that area in July. So if anyone has been there in July or just has info about it let me know! Thanks
His site is pretty complete -- I haven't hiked in that part of the canyon -- the only thing I would add is that you MUST filter all drinking water -- there are little critters living in that water and I would never drink it without filtering.Quote:

It is amazing how many people drown in these flashfloods. They are a very real concern. I'm not experienced with them or hiking in areas that have them but I suggest you learn as much as you can for the signs to watch for, etc. I know that one of the major suggestions is to stay out of slot canyons if you can see the it's raining up on the areas above the canyon. Or even if you only see rainclouds and not the rain because you don't know if it's raining just outside of your view.
