First time road tripper

For spring break, my boyfriend and I are trying to drive from Seattle, Wash. to Napa Valley, Calif. and back. We plan so far on taking US Hwy 101 through Oregon to the Redwoods and I-5 back up to Seattle. We have from March 17 through March 24. Also, I'm an employee of a large hotel chain so I can get decent priced rooms along the way, however, we want to camp as well. Any suggestions for routes or stopping places? We pretty much are open to anything, just want to have the experience of being out there for a while. Thank you!

Here are some tips on routes and some suggestions of places to see en route. Don't miss the Pacific Coast Highway even if it's a little out of the way, there are several attractions along that fabulous road. I've never been to Napa, but if you are a wine lover like I am, this book got a great review and sure looks like a must have on such a trip.
