Beale Street - Memphis, Tennessee

The legendary 'home of the blues' where W.C. Handy became famous, is the hub of nightlife in Memphis, with restaurants, shops, and other attractions including horse-drawn carriages (some of them clearly modeled after Cinderella's.) And oh yes, there are plenty of clubs where you can hear lots of blues.

Be sure to spend some time browsing at A. Scwab, the delightfully quirky variety store that's been a fixture since 1876. You can buy everything from hats to hoodoo potions. Clubs are open until 5:00 a.m. on weekends and 3:00 a.m. on other nights (an exception to the state law).
