• Dorothy's House and the Land of OZ - Liberal, Kansas

Quirky, camp and slightly offbeat, this is an unashamed tourist attraction aimed at small children (and grown ups with a sense of fun). The tour is led by local girls in Dorothy costumes and takes in The Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy's House (a local farm house resembling the house in the film) and the Land of Oz (another outbuilding with some displays representing a walk-through journey through the movie). There's also a memorabilia museum and a gift shop.

      If you go:
Open all year except major holidays. Limited hours on Sundays. Closed Mondays during the school year. Admission fee for tour. The Coronado Museum, housing local history, is next door.

Much of what's going on now "feels" like parts of Oz!
