This impressive monument has been built by Tom Hendrix to commemorate his great-great grandmother Te-lah-nay who, having survived the Trail of Tears 'the relocation of thousands of American Indians to Oklahoma in the 1830s' walked all the way back again. The wall extends for more than half a mile, ranging from 4 to 5 feet in height and up to 10 feet wide and every stone has been laid by hand; somewhere around 3,000 tons of stone.

Visitors are welcome but it's worth emailing ahead to make sure someone's there to welcome you.

My Sisters, Mother & I have been here a couple of times & recommend to everyone that has an interest in Indian history, history of AL, spiritual experiences, love for family history, etc. Everybody I know that has visited was NOT disappointed. Worth your time to go check it out - should allow approx. an hr.
